| This tutorial explains how to make a texture look older than it really is by adding some tiny scratches to its surface.
To complete this tutorial you will need a background texture ready. |

Select the Paintbrush¹ tool. Set foreground color to white. Select the smallest brush (1 pixel in size).

| Create a new layer. Draw some random strokes to create the effect of scratches.
Having a tablet will more easily assist you in creating natural looking scratches. |

Set Blending Mode of the layer with scratches to Overlay and you are done! |
